In 1974, the Democrat from Arkansas was stopped in October 1974 for speeding. Fanne Foxe, a stripper known as the "Argentine Firecracker," was in the car with him. His face was cut up after a little scuffle the two had had in the car.
Reportedly, when police pulled Mills over, the stripper fled and jumped into the Potomac River tidal basin. Foxe survived her swim (she was taken to a hospital) and Mills survived the episode to win reelection, but he just couldn't stay way from foxy Foxe. He appeared again in the club where she worked, apparently three sheets to the wind. The Dems were not happy, and Mills never ran for reelection again.
