Selena's killer speaks:
Even those people non-conversant with Tejano or Tex-Mex music have heard of Selena. She started singing at 6, won her first music award at 15, signed with a major record label at 18.
It really is a shame that we know her better in death than in life. Selena's golden talent had her on the brink of worldwide stardom, something that had never been done before by a Tejano artist. She was working on her crossover album, Dreaming of You, when her voice was stilled. Dreaming of You was re-released in 2002 and, 7 years after her death, sold over 4 million copies.
Selena's funeral was held at the Corpus Christi Memorial Coliseum where 10,000 fans swarmed to pass by her coffin and distant mourners held vigils in many other U.S. cities.
